This placemat is made from an exclusive material: Kyoto Nishijin-ori embellished with Urushi lacquer using the Inden technique. It brings a refined accent to a dining table or side table.
The contrast between the delicate sheen of silk thread and the lustrous relief of the lacquer gives the piece its distinctive character. Both sides are crafted entirely from Nishijin-ori for an exceptionally refined finish.
A stain-resistant and water-repellent treatment is applied to both sides, combining delicate beauty with everyday practicality.
Made with care at a specialist workshop in Japan, the placemat is completed by the lacquer’s subtly smooth feel.
